Our Process

The steps and elements involved when having a bespoke piece commissioned with Lorean Jewellery.

First Step

First Step

The process of having a bespoke piece of jewellery made will usually start with an initial chat via email or phone call. This allows us to get an understanding of what your needs and wishes are within your time and budget constraints.

If you're unsure of exactly what it is you want, then we can guide you through the process.

Please send an email to info@lorean.co.za with the following information:
1. A design reference, idea or inspiration of what you are wanting to have created.
2. The ring size (if you have it)
3. The type of diamond(s) or gemstone(s) you are wanting to incorporate
4. Your budget

Consultation

Consultation

The next step is a chance for us to meet in person to discuss the design in more detail. This allows us to have a better understanding of you, as an individual or as a couple, and the kind of jewellery that will suit your needs. It also helps us to better communicate design ideas and proposals.

If you have a budget that you would like us to adhere to, then we will do our best to source stones and materials to show you during our meeting. We will be able to guide you through the characteristics of gemstones to allow you to make a more informed decision.

Our studio works with long distance clients on a regular basis. If you're unable to make it to our studio, then all of the above is possible via email or phone call.

Design Phase

Design Phase

Depending on the type of design, this could involve existing references to rough sketches and accurate 3D CAD renderings to help communicate the final design proposals with exact proportions.

If applicable, a CAD Render document of the proposed design will be provided for approval.

Manufacturing Process

Manufacturing Process

We will now bring your design to life - this is our favourite part of the process.

All our jewellery pieces are handcrafted in-house. Depending on the level of design detail involved, our manufacturing lead time is usually 3 – 6 weeks to create a bespoke piece.

Elements to Consider

Gemstones

Gemstones

We work with a variety of ethically-sourced gemstones, ranging from diamonds to other precious and semi-precious stones. Gemstones are hand-selected for our clients.

If you are interested in a specific stone, we will do our utmost to source it from one of our reliable stone suppliers.

Costing of each unique stone will vary in price, even the slightest variations in cut, colour, clarity and carat (the 4c's) may have a large impact on price. We recommend that you decide on your budget beforehand. We will work with it as closely as we can to source a suitable diamond or gemstone.

Ring Sizing

Ring Sizing

To ensure accurate ring sizing, it is best to have the ring size measured at our studio or with your local jeweller.

Great care will be taken to ensure that your ring size is taken as accurately as possible. Should you discover that your ring size is not prefect upon delivery, we will offer a free first ring resizing (excluding delivery costs).

We work with the British sizing system which uses alphabetical letters for measuring.

When ordering online, please select the main category which your size falls under (XS, S, M, L or XL). When checking out, comment the size (alphabet letter) in the "special instructions" section so that we are aware of the exact size.
